We have been trusted with the delivery of key Defence Programs in Australia, including the Land 17 Future 155mm Artillery Ammunition Program, Tranche 1 of the Land 159 Lethality Systems Program and the provision of multiple ammunition suites through the Major Munitions Contract.
NIOA Australia and New Zealand is part of the NIOA Group of companies, which also includes Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, the Australian Missile Corporation, and the Rheinmetall Nioa Munitions (RNM) Joint Venture company. NIOA has access to a global distribution network through Barrett Firearms Manufacturing, and through RNM we are engaged in the manufacture of 155mm artillery and medium calibre ammunition for export and for use by the Australian Defence Force.

NIOA is Australia’s largest supplier of small arms, ammunition and ancillary equipment to the Australian Law Enforcement and shooting sports market.

– We solicit the best-of-breed capability solutions through our relationships with domestic and global supply network. As a Prime Contractor, NIOA has adopted an agile approach to supporting our customers during the capability lifecycle including user need analysis, requirements development, market solicitation, tender evaluation, source selection and subsequent subcontracting.
– Consistent with the Defence Strategic Review (DSR) and Defence Industry Development Strategy (DIDS), NIOA is expanding Explosive Ordnance manufacturing operations, certification, and testing at our tenancy at the Government-Owned, Contractor Operated (GOCO) Benalla munitions facility. Current manufacturing operations include Medium Calibre Ammunition, 120mm Tank Ammunition and rework of large calibre ammunition. The RNM artillery forge in Maryborough is the most modern of it’s kind in the world.
– NIOA Engineering activities include the design, integration, testing and delivery of fully integrated weapon and munition systems for Defence and Law Enforcement agencies. We have a dedicated team of highly skilled weapon and explosive ordnance engineers.
– NIOA specialises in the management and operation of complex, highly controlled, secure facilities. Our extensive experience in the management of both government and private facilities ensures the optimal delivery of asset management and where possible, capability enhancement.
– Our Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) programs are tailored to provide enduring Through-Life Support outcomes required by the Commonwealth to achieve system acceptance, ensure safety and suitability for service, and facilitate the development and sustainment of a support system.
